Max Bratter

Nautilus Pier 4
Bar Director

Max began his hospitality career while studying abroad in Dresden, Germany, where he first stepped behind a bar. That early experience sparked a lasting passion for beverage culture, hospitality operations, and the craft of bartending, ultimately shaping his path into beverage leadership. After returning to Massachusetts, Max spent a season working on Martha’s Vineyard before settling in Boston. Over the years, he has helped shape cocktail, wine, and spirits programs, combining creative direction with a strong operational focus. Max went on to take over bar management at Waypoint, where he developed a seasonal, ingredient-driven cocktail menu, reconnected the program to the restaurant’s roots in absinthe, and built out a structured ice program. After several years there, he stepped into a beverage director role for the Alden & Harlow restaurant group, where he opened Josephine’s and further refined his cocktail expertise at Longfellow Bar. Before joining the team at Nautilus, Max spent a winter in Aspen skiing and bartending. In his free time Max enjoys cooking, playing tennis, and exploring new bars and restaurants.
