SARAH BARLOW

Nautilus Nantucket
Chef de Cuisine

Sarah Barlow Chef de Cuisine, Nautilus

Widely respected as one of Nantucket’s most talented and acclaimed chefs, Sarah Barlow is one of the longest tenured members of the Nautilus Nantucket Staff and certainly the most important! A native of Plymouth, New Hampshire, Sarah grew up in restaurants, gaining early experience in both front- and back-of-house roles. She refined her culinary skills at the New England Culinary Institute and trained with James Beard Award-winning chef, Jamie Bissonnette during two externships at Coppa in Boston.

In 2016, Sarah joined Nautilus as a line cook. She stood out from day one and quickly became recognized for her distinct talent and artistry, as well as her ability to thrive in fast-paced environments and keep her cool under pressure. These traits, paired with Chef Sarah’s leadership and her ability to foster creativity, collaboration and growth among her team, ascended her through the ranks, eventually assuming the role of Chef de Cuisine.

Chef Sarah’s culinary creativity and talent has played a key role in the restaurant earning several awards and accolades over the past decade, including ‘Best Restaurant, Nantucket’ from Boston magazine a number of times (most recently in 2024), OpenTable’s 2024 national list of Top 100 Restaurants in America, highlights in Harper Bazaar’s “Official Travel Guide to Nantucket,” Afar’s Nantucket Travel Guide and the Wall Street Journal’s “Weekend Getaway: The Best of Nantucket in Just Three Days” and more.

Chef Sarah lives year-round on Nantucket with her cat, Scallop. When she’s not in the kitchen, she enjoys hiking, gardening, and knitting. Chef Sarah’s mark on Nantucket’s culinary landscape is undeniable – and she’s just getting warmed up.
